Noah Schnapp thanks ‘Stranger Things’ for helping him

“I’m finding my identity”: Noah Schnapp raves about “Stranger Things”

Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers in Strange things, says his character helped him embrace who he is.

In an interview with GQhe shares, “Seeing how the world receives and embraces Will has taught me over the years to feel good about who I am and how I express myself.”

The Netflix series, for a while, has teased Will’s sexuality, which Noah said will “return in the final season as a major plot point,” noting that he stops “before revealing anything further.”

He also praises the series for helping him embrace his identity as his character and his own identity converged during the making of the series, which ran for nearly a decade.

The star, who came out as gay in 2023, said the show “not only helped me find my own sexual identity. As a person, it taught me that it’s okay to be me, just like all that I am. And I think that’s what’s so special about our show, and what’s so special about Will.”

“It doesn’t speak to queer people, but to all people who feel different,” he concludes.

Stranger Things season 5 will be released on Netflix on November 26.
