President Asif Ali Zardari addresses the joint session of the Parliament on Monday, marking the start of the second parliamentary year of the current National Assembly.

As soon as the president began his speech, the opposition legislators, in particular PTI, broke out in slogans and carried signs, transforming the session into a chaotic show.

The president used the use of headphones to continue his speech in the midst of the disturbances.

High government officials, including ministers and legislators from various parties, attended the session, while foreign diplomats observed the guest gallery.

The only program of the session was the president’s speech, without any other procedure.

Before the session, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with President Zardari, joined by the President of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Vice-Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.

In a light moment, the head of the PTI, Pervez Khattak, wrongly walked towards opposition benches before making his mistake and returning to shake the hand of the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister.

Despite the demonstrations, President Zardari smiled at the members of the opposition while continuing his speech, showing no sign of being dissuaded by the tumult.
