- NordVPN revamped its mobile apps with a cleaner interface
- Unified search and expandable map make changing locations easy
- New connection statistics and threat protection graphs improve transparency
NordVPN has rolled out a completely redesigned mobile app, aiming to provide a cleaner and more intuitive user experience. Rather than introducing new encryption protocols or security features, the update focuses entirely on usability, refining how users navigate, connect, and monitor their security.
As the company explains in a blog post, the changes were based on research and user feedback, with the main goal of simplifying the user interface without compromising advanced features.
This update is the latest step in NordVPN’s ongoing work to evolve its product into one of the best VPNs on the market.
A cleaner interface for everyday use
The change that stands out the most is the simplified interface which reduces visual clutter while keeping key controls front and center.
When you open the app, your suggested server appears immediately, allowing you to connect without having to click through multiple menus. City names are also displayed next to country names.
If you’ve set a preferred location, it stays pinned as the default choice so your experience is consistent every time you launch the app. The security status indicators and main login action buttons are still instantly visible, but the layout has been refined and looks more focused and less cluttered.
In the update, NordVPN also reworked the way users explore and change locations. THE map now opens in a more compact view that highlights your current connection for a quick overview. If you prefer a broader view, the map can be expanded to full screen, allowing you to scroll freely and connect via marked location pins.
Research has been grouped into a single, unified interface. Whether you’re looking for a specific country, a specialized server type, or even a Meshnet device, you can access it all from a single search box. The “All Locations” button opens the full list, and advanced users can still connect to specific servers by entering their unique server number.
Together, the updates mean fewer jumps between menus, faster server switching, and finer control over how and where you connect.
Make protection more visible
Beyond the visual veneer, NordVPN also expands how you can see your protection in action. The updated stats section now shows how long your connection has been secure, as well as weekly comparisons to help you track your usage trends over time.
On Android, call protection statistics show how often fraudulent or unwanted calls were blocked.
Looking ahead, NordVPN also plans for the Threat Protection tab to start showing daily charts and weekly summaries. These will show how many ads, trackers and malicious sites were stopped during browsing sessions. These statistics are stored locally on your device, keeping the data private.
The app redesign is another step in a busy year for NordVPN.
In 2026 alone, the company reaffirmed its no-logging policy for the sixth time through an independent audit. It also announced a partnership with CrowdStrike aimed at strengthening its Threat Protection Pro suite. Additionally, it introduced improvements for users connecting from 30 harder-to-reach countries.
While the latest mobile app refresh focuses on usability rather than raw security improvements, it reinforces NordVPN’s ongoing efforts to refine both performance and everyday user experience.
