Islamabad:
The Gaza Peace Plan at 20 points unveiled by US President Donald Trump this week does not align with the project proposed by an Arab coalition and other Islamic countries, according to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ishaq Dar.
On Friday, Dar clarified a political discourse on the prosecution of the National Assembly, DAR, however, said that eight Muslim countries, including Pakistan, approved Trump’s plan, considering it the only viable option to stop the draft in progress in Gaza in the current circumstances.
The American president announced the Gaza peace plan on Monday at 20 points alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was immediately welcomed by several countries, including Pakistan. However, later Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Egypt, published a distinct joint declaration clarifying the position of the block.
Ishaq Dar, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister, has tried to appease the opposition and the criticisms by providing an overview of the stolen door talks and other efforts to end the Gaza conflict. He also confirmed that the plan presented by Trump was not the one that “we (the eight Islamic countries)” had approved.
Dar said that after the Trump-Netanyahu presser at the White House, he received a message from his Saudi counterpart, who informed him that “although many aspects of Trump’s proposed project have been accepted, there are points on which other discussions with him will be necessary”.
The position of the Saudi Foreign Minister was that at that time, they had two options: either to oppose the 20-point project of Trump and give Israel an excuse to shed more blood in Gaza, or suggest that Muslim and Arab countries publish a joint declaration. Such a declaration, he said, should be registered and also sent to the Trump administration.
In the Assembly, DAR also reread the joint declaration which, according to him, included points such as the two -state solution to the conflict and the complete withdrawal of occupied Gaza. The press release also said that the West Bank would be considered part of Gaza.
According to him, the joint declaration required an immediate cease-fire in Gaza, the reconstruction and complete withdrawal of the Israeli Gaza forces.
“We alone are unable to arrest this war. In this case, even the organization of Islamic cooperation, the United Nations and the Security Council have failed. If we try to cut ourselves in a way to follow, it should be welcomed,” said Dar.
In response to the criticisms of the reasons why the Prime Minister praised Trump’s plan, although he does not reflect the opinions of Muslim countries, he replied: “Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif should not have divine providents to know that the plan of the President Trump in 20 points diffreted from the one we had approved. As soon as we examined the project, we immediately published our own statement.”
DAR’s declaration occurred at a time when the opposition parties in Pakistan criticize the government’s approval of the Trump project on Gaza. The Minister of Foreign Affairs also categorically declared that Pakistan was not going to be part of any Abraham agreement and would not recognize Israel.
DAR also informed the National Assembly of “active commitment of Pakistan” during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. He underlined the impactful declaration of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Palestine, Jammu-Cachemire, climate justice, world financial systems reform and the urgency of sustainable development.
DAR also underlined the vast diplomatic awareness of Pakistan, participation in high -level events and bilateral touch of touch, a constructive role in the progress of peace efforts and a plea in principle for the rights of the Palestinian and Cashmere people.
He reiterated the coherent position and based on Pakistan principles: the two-state solution is the only viable path to a just and lasting peace, thanks to the creation of a contiguous, independent and sovereign state of Palestine on the basis of the pre-1967 borders, with al-qui al-Sharif as capital.
He condemned the illegal interception of Flotilla Global Sumud by the Israeli occupation forces, describing it as a flagrant violation of international maritime law and humanitarian principles.
He assured the House that Pakistan actively continued diplomatic efforts to ensure the security and safe performance of his nationals on board.
