Nvidia will make its “largest investment ever” in OpenAI: Jensen Huang

CEO Jensen Huang refuted reports claiming Nvidia was considering pulling out of its new, huge investment in OpenAI,

Nvidia is set to make its “largest investment ever” in ChatGPT developer OpenAI, despite recent reports suggesting the deal could be in jeopardy.

Huang dismissed allegations of dissatisfaction with OpenAI, calling them “absurd.”

While Nvidia CFO Colette Kress said in December 2025 that the company had not reached a definitive agreement with OpenAI, some senior Nvidia officials indicated that a formal agreement between the two companies would be finalized soon.

How much is Nvidia investing in OpenAI?

Nvidia’s CEO did not disclose the exact amount of the investment but said it would be “nothing like” the $100 billion figure mentioned in the partnership agreement signed in September.

“We will definitely participate in the next round of financing, because it is a very good investment,” Huang told reporters at a press conference, as reported by Bloomberg.

As the most valuable company in the world, Nvidia produces a considerable amount of hardware that powers tools like ChatGPT and Sora.

Another point to note is that Nvidia’s technology is crucial for the AI data centers that OpenAI is set to invest hundreds of billions in in the United States. These data centers are expected to consume as much electricity as India.

Huang’s clarification on Nvidia’s OpenAI investment follows a Wall Street Journal report earlier this week, which called the deal “on ice.”

The Journal also reported that Huang had privately expressed concerns about “the lack of discipline in OpenAI’s business approach” and increasing competition from rivals like Google and Anthropic.

Surprisingly, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman also recently expressed competition concerns.

It announced in December a pause on other projects aimed at improving ChatGPT’s user experience, after Google’s Gemini 3 outperformed it in various benchmarking tests.
