- NVIDIA and the partners of the Board of Directors should lower the GPU prices of the RTX 5000 series between online retailers
- This is supposed to be due to low sales and an excess offer, after months of price inflation
- It comes in the middle of another rumor that suggests that Nvidia will soon launch Super GPU models for the Blackwell range
The scalpers have been out of the GPU market discussion for a long time, because the prices of NVIDIA and AMD cards have been marked on several retailers – but it seems that it can become a problem, in the midst of good news for Team Green fans.
According to the channels of the Board of Directors on Chiphell, Nvidia and its partners of the Board of Directors are about to reduce the GPU prices of the RTX 5000 series this month, due to “weak terminals sales” and “over -ppus”. It comes after rumors that Team Green will present Super GPU models for the RTX 5000 series later this holiday season.
Nvidia has not yet provided confirmation on this subject. However, there is a mixture of GPU of Founders Edition and partner of the board of directors available from retailers such as Best Buy in the United States and CT in the United Kingdom-and in particular at original or less retail prices, which gives a certain credibility to this rumor of Chiphell.
This was a slight contrast to the usual procedures on the GPU market; As a general rule, consumers must fight against scalpers to acquire new GPUs, but as inflation and prices have left prices in arrow retailers, the demand was low – but if this report is legitimate, it could quickly change, once the scalpers have had a low price.
Fortunately, Nvidia already has a solution to fight against scalpers, which is its “checked priority access” scheme, allowing consumers to buy new GPUs. However, it is a question of knowing if it decides to use it on a larger scale, because it is especially limited to certain regions.
Analysis: The priority access scheme verified is the one -way ticket of Nvidia to return to the right books of the fans
Again, the rumor concerning GPU price reductions is not confirmed, so nothing is set in stone, but if this is true, Nvidia would do better to use the buyers’ program to its best. Although I don’t think there is a way to completely overcome the scalpers, I think it is the ideal method to soften their impact.
The checked priority access scheme allows those who created an Nvidia account at the latest a certain date (recently on January 30), to obtain a special invitation to buy a Founders Edition GPU. This will not cover the GPUs of the partners of the Board of Directors, but it will at least give more consumers an opportunity to upgrade.
I have no doubts that the scalping will become a widespread problem, and frankly, I am surprised that it has not already started, because there are many units at the retail price available at the moment.
Fortunately, however, it will be an excellent Team Green decision for its fans, because there was a lot of criticism when it is launched by the RTX 5000 series due to driving problems, missing GPU specifications (in particular ROP) and low availability.
It will be interesting to see how things go if prices start to fall even further, and I would advise to keep an eye on online retailers for all sudden developments.
