- New leak suggests RTX 60 series could arrive in late 2027
- The source is a leaker with a solid story
- Rising RAM prices could delay launch
It finally looks like there might be some good news for PC gamers, as a reliable hardware leaker has suggested that Nvidia’s next generation of RTX 60 graphics cards will launch in the second half of 2027.
While that may still seem like a long time, it’s pretty much what we expected since the current generation, the RTX 50 series, launched last year, and Nvidia usually waits a few years before launching entirely new architectures.
If this leak is accurate, it could mean that new Nvidia RTX 60 series GPUs, such as the RTX 6090, could launch around the same time as the rumored GTA 6 PC port. This would be good timing, as the highly anticipated game will likely be a graphical tour de force and many PC gamers will want to update their rigs with cutting-edge technology.
As Notebookcheck.net reports, hardware leaker “kopite7kimi” posted on
With RAM prices currently skyrocketing, there are fears that Nvidia may delay the launch of the RTX 60 series until supply issues are resolved. There has been no sign of Nvidia’s mid-generation RTX 50 series “Super” GPUs, which were missing from CES 2026, and many people assume that the global memory shortage has forced Nvidia to delay their launch.
If ‘kopite7kimi’s rather cryptic post is accurate, it suggests that fears that Nvidia might delay its next-generation GPUs are (at least for now) unfounded.
Time to get excited?
While it’s encouraging to think that Nvidia’s next generation of GPUs won’t be delayed, I wouldn’t get too excited just yet.
While “kopite7kimi” has a pretty good history of accurate leaks, their post gives no indication of where they’re getting this information, and it’s not entirely clear whether they’re talking about the RTX 6090 or the RTX 60 series as a whole.
As we’ve only just started 2026, the second half of 2027 is far enough away that there’s still plenty of time for unexpected delays to arise, especially since the RAM pricing crisis shows no signs of ending any time soon.
The RTX 60 series launching around the same time as GTA 6 on PC might also be wishful thinking on my part. Rockstar, the company behind the iconic franchise, hasn’t mentioned anything about a PC version. I’m still hoping that GTA 6 will end up on PC, as every other mainline entry in the series has done (in fact, the original game started out as a PC game), but there’s no guarantee that it will launch in 2027, despite that being a year after the (much delayed) release on consoles, which is planned for later this year.
Without wanting to be too negative, but even if the RTX 60 series indeed avoids delays due to the RAM price crisis, there could still be repercussions, with Nvidia’s already expensive GPUs possibly becoming even more expensive.
