- NymVPN has just launched a new update, adding split tunneling for macOS
- The update also includes a connection-related quality of life upgrade
- NymVPN has also launched an Alpha testing program for testers
NymVPN has just released a new update, bringing the application to version v2026.6. The patch covers a few different features.
The headliner is the addition of split tunneling for macOS. Currently in beta, split tunneling is coming to Mac devices after already being released in the Android VPN app version of NymVPN. Additionally, new improvements have been made to secure authentication and a more seamless login process.
NymVPN is still in its early stages, but while it doesn’t exactly compete with best VPNs to date, the continuing series of updates bodes well. Here’s what’s new in today’s batch of upgrades and how you can join Nym’s Alpha Test Group to help make the product as good as possible.
What’s new in the latest NymVPN update?
The biggest addition in the the new NymVPN patch is definitely the arrival of split tunneling for macOScurrently in beta.
This lets you choose which apps go through the VPN tunnel and which connect directly to the Internet. Split tunneling can help protect sensitive traffic over the VPN while allowing other applications to maintain their connection for speed, compatibility, or access to local services.
To try split tunneling on macOS, you must grant Full Disk Access permission to view and select which applications will benefit from it.
The update also adds a Smoother connection flow between app and web thanks to deeplinking. Instead of repeatedly relying on Nym’s 24-word mnemonic passphrase to access account information over the web, you can now generate a secure code directly from the app.
On top of that, Nym says he has enhanced secure authentication based on recommendations from a 2025 Cure53 audit, although it notes that some macOS authentication changes will still be coming in a later release. Please note, if you use Linux, you will need to install Policykit-1-gnome to take advantage of the benefits of this improved authentication.
Other minor updates include new diagnostic tools for Android, simplified coding for DNS resolution in all versions of NymVPN, and various improvements on macOS and Android.
How to join the NymVPN alpha testing program
If you want to actively help the NymVPN team shape the future of the app before the features are rolled out more widely, Nym is opening things up via a alpha testing program. You can join the community testing group, where builds are shared early and tested alongside developers.

Nym has released frequent updates over the past few months, gradually closing gaps and improving the usability of its apps.
Previous versions focused on anti-censorship features and general usability improvements, but they also highlighted missing items, especially for Apple users. With the arrival of split tunneling on macOS, Nym is starting to deliver the features it previously promised.
The company also recently shared its two-year roadmap, outlining how it hopes its privacy features can beat all existing VPNs by 2027.
