- Latest NymVPN update unveils new UI and bug fixes
- New Simplified Static DNS Makes It Easier to Circumvent Network Restrictions
- The update is now available, but Apple users have to wait a little longer
NymVPN has just released its latest software update, bringing much-needed quality of life improvements and more powerful anti-censorship tools to the privacy-focused provider. However, if you rely on Apple hardware to stay safe online, you’ll have to sit still a little longer.
The recently released v2026.5 patch primarily aims to give users better visibility into their data consumption and eliminate some frustrating software bugs. But the most interesting addition for privacy purists is the discreet overhaul of the service’s Domain Name System (DNS) infrastructure, designed to keep users connected even in heavily restricted regions.
The release arrived just days after the vendor outlined its ambitions two-year roadmap, detailing plans to transition to pure UDP and increase mixnet speeds up to five times faster. While NymVPN aims to compete with the best VPN services on the market, this latest update serves as a solid stepping stone towards that larger 2026 vision.

Data displays and bugs fixed
One of the most immediate changes you will notice is the new data usage interface. The revamped user interface gives you a clear, visual display of exactly how much data you’ve consumed and how much remains on your current plan.
This visual upgrade arrives alongside a crucial solution for a widely reported problem. Previously, an erroneous warning message informed users that their “bandwidth limit” had been reached, completely blocking their access to the VPN until they added more data. The vendor officially fixed the bug, noting: “This has been fixed, meaning Team Nym no longer needs refills!”
The update also includes practical elements diagnostic tools to its various clients. Windows and Linux users get a new logging tool to streamline bug reporting, while an optional toggle for sharing error logs has been added to iOS.
“Please consider enabling it so that the Nym team can better identify and resolve issues you are experiencing with your NymVPN app,” the provider said, reassuring users that “all data shared is anonymous.”
Tougher censorship resistance and Apple delays
While the bug fixes are welcome, the bulk of the work in this update happens under the hood.
NymVPN has upgraded its DNS routing to provide “more streamlined interaction with the static DNS that underpins the HTTP client to improve censorship resistance.” In short, VPN should now be even harder for restrictive networks and authoritarian firewalls to block.

Unfortunately, not everyone has the opportunity to play with the new tools right away. Android, Windows, and Linux users can upgrade immediately, but Apple fans face frustrating delays.
The iOS update is currently stuck in Apple’s notoriously slow App Store review process. Things are a little more complicated for Mac users. The macOS update was delayed because “additional testing was needed on a new core feature.” According to Nym, the delayed version of macOS “will follow shortly this week.”
Other minor changes in the patch include fixes for a bug that crashes on Android when switching languages and a fixed alternate login display issue for Linux.
