I was wondering the reason for this edition of Strands, then I noticed the date on my laptop screen.
Fortunately, you didn’t need to be a Star Wars fanatic to take advantage of today’s research, which rather pays tribute to the opening ramp, the floating text introductory that has become a signature of all Star Wars films.
In the original version of 1977, the text, which begins “a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far …”, was designed to synchronize with the main theme of John Williams, with each new paragraph timing with a new music section.
Unfortunately, this subtle effect was lost when the film was withdrawn “A New Hope” and later became chapter four of the nine -part Luke Skywalker saga and the insignificant seed of the sprawling franchise in 99 parts.
For the whole Hooplah that was to follow, this opening ramp was a reminder of the power of words to define the imagination and transport us to another dimension. May the fourth be with you.
