I have a game from the pre-technology era called Rebound by Ideal, these Toy Supremos from the golden era of board games. The object of the game is to roll a marble which is locked up inside a plastic ring along a plastic surface and to make it bounce in an elastic stretched in one of the four sections, giving you 5, 10, 25 or 50 points.
I am sure that once there was a whole art in this game, and there were probably competitive rebound leagues around the world with people with sassy completing each other on a “beautiful return”, but unfortunately, my whole is now distorted – which means that everyone scores 50 points unless you ricoche your opponent out of the set. I cannot resolve to throw it away, even if it is essentially only a giant piece of wobbly yellow plastic.
