Strands is the last NYT word play after tastes, bees and spelling connections – and it’s very fun. It can be difficult, however, so read the rest for my strands.
Do you want more pleasure in words? Then consult my NYT Today and QUORDLE TODAY Pages connections for advice and answers for these games, and the Marc TODAY BORDLE page for the original viral word game.

Nyt Strands TODAY (Match # 564) – The answers
The answers to today’s strands, the game # 564, are…
- Settle
- LADDER
- AGREEMENT
- THEORY
- RECITAL
- TECHNICAL
- Spangram: pianoles
- My note: Hard
- My score: 1 index
The “practical makes” theme could apply to almost anything, so after finding half a dozen non-game words, I decided to take a clue.
The index that was given to me, Tune, immediately made me think of the music, just like the scale that I spotted afterwards. But it was only when I saw piano then lessons that Le Penny finally dropped.
I automatically revolve towards rare letters by searching for strands, but I was somehow blind to the technique, seeing it last. But then, one of the wonders of this game is the frequency to which words are hidden well and even without the twists and turns and the right to read on the left, you do not see them.
Answers from yesterday Nyt Strands (Wednesday September 17, match # 563)
- BOLD

- CALM
- NOISY
- FLEXIBLE
- RIGID
- SPANGRAM: OPPOSTIVEATRACTRACT
