I’m really happy that I managed to complete today’s research without resorting to any allusions, because I know absolutely nothing about “Tolkein’s world”, having never seen/read any of the Lord of the Rings Or Hobbit movies/books.
That said, I must know something – because almost immediately I found the very middle spangram of MIDDLE-EARTH, quickly followed by the top half of the grid.
Luckily, aside from SHIRE and RING, all of the words seemed pretty common to the fantasy genre.
