Strands is the latest pun from The New York Times after Wordle, Spelling Bee and Connections – and it’s a lot of fun. It can be difficult, though, so keep reading my Strands tips.

NYT Strands today (game #714) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #714, are…
- TO INPUT
- APPREHEND
- BREASTFEED
- TO UNDERSTAND
- REALIZE
- SPANGRAM: SEE LIGHT
- My rating: Hard
- My rating: 1 clue
Z’s in words where we would have Ss – like in today’s REALIZE – are a problem for Strands players in the UK, but that’s no excuse for my slow play today (that will have a little more to do with the hangover I’m nursing).
“Now I understand!” are the words I often say to myself when I finally UNDERSTAND the theme of the day, but I totally didn’t understand it today and figured it out after finding half a dozen non-gaming words.
The word GRASP helped me, uh, grasp the research at hand, although I would say that comprehend might have fit this game better than APPREHEND – but then my fields of perception are decidedly fuzzy.
Yesterday’s NYT Strands Answers (Saturday February 14, Match #713)
- TO KISS
- Snuggle up
- SLAM
- PICK
- SMOKING
- CUDDLY
- SPANGRAM: Hugs and kisses
