NYT Strands today (game #609) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #609, are…
- TO START
- PACE
- FINISHING
- RUNNER
- HYDRATION
- TIMEKEEPER
- SPANGRAM: MARATHON
- My rating: Easy
- My rating: Perfect
I’ve done a MARATHON a dozen times, but I’ve actually only done three. This was mainly due to injuries, confirming the widely held belief that the hardest thing in a marathon is getting to the starting line in one piece, rather than the race itself.
Today’s Strands was much easier – it’s nice of the New York Times to put START in the position where many of us begin our research – but it didn’t remind me of dragging my angry legs through the streets of London as I defied the odds and completed 26.2 miles.
The hardest word to find was HYDRATION, a key part of endurance sport that is often overlooked – although I wouldn’t recommend the beer I once drank during a race. That said, maybe it was the chips I had with that slowed me down the most.
Yesterday’s NYT Strands Answers (Saturday, November 1, Game #608)

- DELICIOUS
- FLAVOR
- DELECTABLE
- SPANGRAM: GOOD TASTE
