NYT Strands today (game #595) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #595, are…
- SAUCE
- JELLY
- BUTTER
- CIDER
- COMPOTE
- STRUDEL
- DONUT
- SPANGRAM: APPLES
- My rating: Hard
- My rating: Perfect
When I heard my first two words – SAUCE and JELLY – I was in the dark and at first thought we were looking for different types of condiments.
Getting BUTTER didn’t help much either, but I kept going and resisted using a hint. A good thing, because CIDER finally made me realize that APPLES was the connection, confirmed by the mercifully short spangram.
As this game proves, APPLES are right up there with potatoes as a cheap, versatile product that you can do dozens of things with.
In the battle of best, apples might win thanks to the wonder that is apple pie, but potatoes will always get fries. Hmmm… I feel a pitch for a Netflix documentary coming…
