NYT Strands today (game #627) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #627, are…
- RUMOR
- GOSSIP
- REPORT
- Hearsay
- SPANGRAM: SPREAD THE WORD
- My rating: Hard
- My rating: 1 clue
The theme left no doubt about what we were looking for, but after understanding RUMOR and GOSSIP fairly quickly, I hit a wall and so I figured it out.
My clue word, REPORT, opened hearsay and I immediately saw the words “spread” and “word”, although it took me until the end of the game to join them with “the” to make the spangram.
Having the last word was a real joy. What a beautiful word SCUTTLEBUTT is – it’s worth doing that search to find it alone – and certainly a word that should return to common parlance. All this impertinent talk about spilling tea and spreading dirt is just nonsense.
