NYT Strands today (game #688) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #688, are…
- HEEL
- LANGUAGE
- VAMP
- ALONE
- LACE
- LOGO
- EYELET
- SPANGRAM: JUSTFORKICKS
- My rating: Easy
- My rating: Perfect
For the second game in a row, I spotted the spangram first – although, to be completely honest, I spotted “just” first, then proceeded to plug in JUSTFORKICS – thus ending the mystery of the theme in a second.
Of all the different parts of a sneaker in today’s puzzle, VAMP is the one that’s new to me and I now know that it’s the word for the small area between the toe box and the side panel that contains the eyelets.
During my research on sneaker shoe parts, I also learned that the area above the heel notch, and often the section that houses the LOGO, is called a mustache. For me, this is the area that often rubs when I change into a new pair, so now I can tell anyone interested that my mustache rubs.
Yesterday’s NYT Strands Answers (Monday, January 19, Match #687)
- VIBRATE
- TRAKE
- OSCILLATE
- SWING
- TREMBLE
- SWAY
- SWAY
- SPANGRAM: LETSROCK
