NYT Strands today (game #604) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #604, are…
- ERASER
- RECHARGE
- GRAPHITE
- CEDAR WOOD
- SHARPENER
- SPANGRAM: PENCIL
- My rating: Hard
- My rating: 1 clue
I struggled with today’s research, mainly because I had a poor idea of what “The write stuff” was referring to.
After getting a lot of non-gaming words, I found ERASER and REFILL as I flipped around the game, and the penny finally dropped. Seeing the word “pencil” and it not turning pale blue was a real headache. I had to find a clue word – GRAPHITE – and then have only the spangram left on the board for me to find it.
Until today, I never thought about the wood that pencils are made from, but I have since learned that CEDAR WOOD is preferred because it sharpens easily.
However, I also learned about the debate raging over the future of pencils due to the unsustainability of cedar and the threat of plastic and springs.
Yesterday’s NYT Strands Answers (Monday October 27, Match #603)
- AMULET

- MAGIC WAND
- INCANTATION
- CAULDRON
- SPANGRAM: WITCH
