OGRA Oil, from the gas sector to adopt digital payments

Islamabad:

The oil and gas regulation authority has ordered all approved entities under its regulations to adopt digital payment solutions in accordance with government pressure for an economy without cash.

According to the directive, the WTOs, public gas services, GNC stations, LPG and LNG operators, refineries and lubricating marketing specialists must introduce and display the digital payment options, in particular the SBP Raast QR code, in their points of sale. OGRA said that no point of sale would be authorized to refuse customers opting for digital transactions. All entities must ensure full compliance before October 31, 2025.

The authority said that this decision supports the SBP digitization reader and should improve financial inclusion, transparency and operational efficiency in the energy sector. Companies have been invited to coordinate with banks, microfinance institutions or electronic fund institutions to obtain free QR RAAST codes for timely implementation.
