Okx Global General Counsel is the last legal leader to leave the exchange

The restructuring of the main legal roles and compliance with Crypto-Monnrick Exchange OKX continues with the departure of the global general advisor of the company, Melissa Muehlfeld.

Muehlfeld joined Okcoin, the American branch of OKX, in May 2022 as an assistant general councilor. It was promoted to a worldwide lawyer in August 2024.

Given that OKX paid half a billion dollars to settle the accusations of the United States Ministry of Justice (DOJ) in February of this year, the Stock Exchange replaced certain best members of legal and compliance, including the legal director Mauricio Beugelmans, and the chief of conformity Vanessa Zhang.

OKX appointed the former superintendent and head of the New York Financial Services Department (NYDFS), Linda Lacewell, as Legal Director (CLO) after the departure of Beugelmans.

Lacewell is supposed to restructure the company’s legal and compliance divisions, according to a source familiar with the situation.

“In order to the company’s policy, we do not start all the people who join and / or leave the company,” said a spokesperson for OKX by e-mail.

Muehlfeld did not respond to requests for comments.
