American freestyle skier Mac Forehand won a silver medal for Team USA after a narrow loss to Norway’s Tormod Frostad in the men’s Big Air final on Tuesday.
Frostad, competing in his second Olympics, was the leader for most of the final, but the forehand shockingly took the lead on the penultimate jump of the evening with a score of 98.25.

“Oh my God,” Forehand exclaimed during the live broadcast after landing a triple cork 2160 nose butter.

But Frostad, who had been near perfect in his first two runs, scoring a 95.25 and a 97, managed his final run with a collective score of 195.50 – just shy of a perfect score of 200.
Austrian Matej Svancer completed the top three with a score of 191.25.

Defending champion and fellow Norwegian Birk Ruud, who crashed unusually in two of his races, was not on the podium. He finished 8th with a score of 118.25.
The forehand silver medal is only the second medal for the United States in the freeski and snowboard park events.

He also competed in the men’s free ski event last week, where he placed 11th.
