Olympic results: American Ryan Cochran-Siegle wins silver medal

Olympic skier Ryan Cochran-Siegle won Team USA’s latest medal on Wednesday, winning a silver in the men’s alpine skiing super-G.

Cochran-Siegle clocked 1:25.45 and finished 0.13 seconds behind Swiss ski star Franjo von Allmen, who won his third gold medal at the Milan Cortina Games. Swiss Marco Odermatt won the bronze medal.

For Cohran-Siegle, this is his second Olympic medal of his career. He won a silver medal in the same event at the 2022 Beijing Olympics. He finished 14th in super-G in his first Games appearance in 2018 in Pyeongchang.

He finished 18th in downhill earlier in these Olympics.

Americans Sam Morse, Kyle Negomir and River Radamus also competed in the super-G. Morse finished in 23rd place with a time of 1:27.12 and Negomir finished 26th with a time of 1:28.62. Radamus did not complete the course as he slipped and fell out of position. He seemed frustrated with himself as he skied toward the officials who were near his part of the hill.

Cochran-Siegle, a Vermont native and Mount Mansfield club skier, made his World Cup debut at age 19. But he hasn’t finished better than seventh in super-G during his career. He finished these Games and will be cheering on his ski teammates until the end.

Negomir will compete in the giant slalom and team combined later in these Games. Ryder Sarchett will also compete in the giant slalom. Negomir and Radamus competed on the combined team and finished 18th.
