The pair of two Olympians twice fought in an unforgettable race, in which Lyles again won the United States championship in Eugene, Oregon.

Lyles, the 100 -meter title gold medalist and the 200 -meter triple world champion, returned from behind to defeat Bednarek and the rest of the field, crossing the finish line in 19.63 seconds, four hundredths of a second faster than Bednarek.

However, before crossing the line, Lyles turned to Bednarek and looked at him as they finished the race, which caused a push by Bednarek. Lyles stopped and turned around, before Bednarek apparently made his mistake and handed his hand for a handshake.

Lyles forced.

Perhaps Lyles felt the need to celebrate given what happened in Paris last summer – a few days after Lyles won gold at 100 meters, he was aiming to become the first American runner since Carl Lewis in 1988 winning the Olympic Games. The 200 meter has always been the specialty of Lyles.

However, he settled for bronze revealing that he had fought Covid -19 – Bednarek won the money.

Despite their handshake, there was always a bad blood between the two during a joint interview with NBC.

“I tell you, if you have a problem, I expect a call,” said Bednarek, while Lewis Johnson on the network moved the microphone between runners.

Lyles replied: “You know what, you are right. You’re right. Let’s talk about it.”

It did not stop there – Bednarek made more comments after the two runners left the track.

Stephen A. Smith hits Michelle Obama, “ always … salty ‘to his Trump voting comments

“What he said didn’t matter is exactly what he did,” said Bednarek. “Asportsman (explained) and I don’t take care of this. It is a factor of respect. It is fresh. The last time we have aligned it, I beat it, that’s all I can say. The next time we are going to queue, I’m going to win. That’s all that matters.”

Bednarek has referred to certain dissemination problems for a long time between the two.

“Just personal things that we have to manage,” he said.

This is not the first time that Lyles has had an ox with another American runner. He and Fredd Kerley also exchanged verbal jokes in the past year and more.
