Gus Kenworthy, a British-American Olympic skier who is set to compete for Great Britain in freestyle skiing, posted an anti-ICE message on his social media as opening ceremonies were due to begin on Friday for the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic Games.
Kenworthy posted a photo on his Instagram showing the words “f— ICE” on the snow in what appeared to be urine. He urged Americans to call their senators to pressure them to vote against negotiations over funding for the Department of Homeland Security.

“Innocent people have been murdered, and that’s enough,” he captioned the post. “We cannot wait while ICE continues to operate with unchecked power in our communities. Senators still have influence right now, and Sen. [Name] We must use it to demand real safeguards and accountability – including keeping ICE and CBP out of our communities, ending blank check funding of brutality, and establishing clear limits on warrantless arrests, profiling, and enforcement in sensitive locations like schools and hospitals.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) said Kenworthy would not be punished for his political views.

“During the Olympic Games, all participants have the opportunity to express their opinions in accordance with the Athlete Expression Guidelines. The IOC does not regulate personal posts on social media,” the IOC told Press Association.
The message came amid outrage over U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in Minnesota. In January, Renee Good and Alex Pretti were killed.
ICE agents were also expected to provide security to U.S. officials. This sparked outrage among Italian officials and sparked protests across the country.
