The head of the opposition to the National Assembly Omar Ayub accused the government of having prevented the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, of offering Eid prayers, wondering how an Islamic State like Pakistan can refuse his founding party leader the possibility of fulfilling this religious obligation.
Ayub made these remarks after a group of PTI leaders, notably himself, Shibli Faraz, spokesperson for the Niazullah Niazi party, Aliya Hamza and others, tried to meet Imran Khan in Adiala prison on Thursday, Express News reported.
Party secretary, Salman Akram Raja, had already submitted the names of those who wanted to meet Khan to the prison authorities. However, when the leaders arrived in prison around 4 p.m., they were informed that the meeting was not authorized, despite a legal order allowed it.
Addressing the media outside of Adiala prison, Ayub expressed his frustration at the refusal, saying: “Despite a court order, we were not allowed to meet the founder of PTI. These meetings are generally finalized by the founder himself and shared with his lawyers. ”
He also said that Khan was refused in contact with his children and sisters in the past two and a half months.
Ayub also accused the government of preventing Imran Khan from offering prayers of Eid, stressing that such actions were a serious violation of human rights and dignity. “How can we call this an Islamic State if the founder of PTI is not authorized to pray on Eid? This is the worst form of shame,” he said.
The PTI chief criticized the government for having repeatedly violated judicial orders, urging judges to ensure that their decisions are applied. He added that if the judiciary does not respect his orders, the judges should resign.
Meanwhile, the head of the opposition in the Senate, Shibli Faraz, also expressed himself, claiming that the refusal to authorize a second meeting with Imran Khan showed a contempt for judicial decisions.
“When a country does not take into account the decisions of the courts, it can no longer be called a country. The selective application of the law shows that the credibility of the judicial power is eroding,” said Faraz.
Ill -treatment allegations against Imran Khan
PTI chief Aliya Hamza also spoke to the media, condemning the treatment of the founder of PTI. “It is shameful that our former Prime Minister was treated in this way. He was refused contact with his sisters, children and his wife. He was given outdated food and refused access to newspapers and television,” said Hamza.
She also allegedly alleged that Khan was not punished for any criminal activity but because he refused to bow to the establishment. “He favors the interests of the nation on his own,” she added.
Aliya has also drawn attention to the disparity of treatment between Khan and other political elites which, she said, receive preferential treatment. “The elite has his meetings with the Superintendent in private rooms, while our chief is even refused fundamental rights.”
Addressing internal parties, Aliya said there was no conflict within PTI. “Hammad Azhar is like a brother for me. If we had problems with Khan, we would discuss it openly, “she said. “Our struggle is for the liberation of the founder and for the greatest cause of justice and democracy.”
She stressed that PTI would continue to fight for the justice and the release of Khan, stressing that the party would not retreat despite the current political and legal challenges. “We will continue to fight for justice, and we will not stop until we see the release of our leader, because our struggle is for a greater cause,” she concluded.
