The head of the opposition to the National Assembly Omar Ayub Khan criticized the federal government’s economic policies led by PMLs, describing them as a recipe for the complete destruction of the national economy.
In his speech during the budgetary session of the National Assembly on Friday, Omar, which belongs to the PTI, qualified the current budget for false statistics and wondered where the declared GDP figures came from.
He stressed that all crop yields have decreased, the agricultural sector is decreasing.
Omar compared the current situation to that of April 2022, when the PTI government was ousted by a vote of non-confidence. He said unemployment had now reached 22% and 6.2 million young people wandering unemployed.
He blamed both the “PDM-1 and PDM-2 governments” for having crushed the poor by imposing indirect taxes amounting to 42,500 billion rupees. ‘
An alliance of the opposition parties – The Democratic Movement of Pakistan (PDM) – came to power after the eviction of the PTI government in April 2022. The current leader coalition is also sometimes described as a continuation of the first PDM government, which was also led by Shehbaz Sharif.
The opposition chief accused the government of the IMF plans and said that $ 48 billion had been sent abroad through foreign agents.
“The budget deficit of 6.5 rummage of rupees will be funded by loans from commercial banks, which will reduce the public loan capacity, ultimately transforming Pakistan into an economic cemetery,” he added.
He said that the large -scale industries contracted 1.5%, while during PTI’s mandate, industries developed to the point where workers were not even available in Faisalabad, Omar said.
The opposition chief alleged that the Minister of the Interior Mohin Naqvi has more power than even the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister.
“Naqvi, while being the chief minister of the Punjab goalkeeper, imported Ukraine’s low quality wheat, while the shot of 450 billion rupees in the negotiation. Naqvi performs the actions, the government carries the blame,” he added.
When some government ministers – Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Attaullah Tarar – laughed at his remarks, Omar said: “This laugh has proven that Mohsin Naqvi indeed controls them”.
The Raja Pervaiz Ashraf of PPP said that during the recent Pakistani-Indian conflict, the Pakistani army and the nation responded decisively, showing India that the Pakistani nation is not divided but united in defense. He congratulated military management, including Marshal Asim Munir, for their commendable actions.
He pointed out that if the opposition criticizes the budget, the government highlights its positive aspects. Each government must have a good budget to earn public support, but given the circumstances, difficult decisions must have been made.
“The current government has made difficult choices and has sacrificed political popularity to save the country from bankruptcy,” he added.
Addressing the Assembly, Aqeel Malik de PML-N said that instead of giving constructive proposals on the budget, the opposition only requires the release of arrested persons.
