At least one person was killed and two others, including a traffic police officer, were injured in a multi-vehicle collision on Shahrah-E-Faisal near Karachi’s Drigh Road on Friday, the police confirmed.
The accident involved an oil tanker, a car, a Suzuki van and several motorcycles. The accident led to the disruption of traffic on one of the most popular arteries in the city.
The rescue teams reached the accident site and moved the injured in a neighboring hospital. One of the victims, who would be in critical condition, was declared dead on his arrival at the hospital.
The authorities have not yet confirmed the exact cause of the accident, although the initial reports suggest that brutal braking in intense traffic may have triggered the collision. An investigation is underway.
In addition, three people, including two women, were killed in various incidents through Karachi on Thursday evening, according to police and rescue officials.
In the city’s Sher Shah region, an attempt at mobile tearing ended with a deadly shooting. Two motorcycle attackers opened fire when the victims resisted, killing Khail Nawaz, 22, on the spot and injuring his companion, Gul Zaib, 20.
In a separate case, a woman identified as Tasmeena, 45, died after falling from the seventh floor of a building in the Ramswami district. Police said they were investigating the cause of the fall and had started to question family members to determine if an unfair game was involved.
Meanwhile, in the region of Chamra Chowrangi in Korangi, a 45 -year -old woman named Shazia was struck and killed by a truck when he crossed the road. The truck driver was arrested and the police said that an investigation into the incident is underway.
