- OnePlus revealed several specifications of the OnePlus 15R
- These include a 165Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, and some camera details
- We also discovered the screen of the OnePlus Pad Go 2
OnePlus won’t fully reveal the OnePlus 15R until December 17, but ahead of that launch the company has revealed many of the phone’s most important specs, including its chipset, display, and camera engine.
First of all, we now know that the OnePlus 15R has a 165Hz display – which is in line with the OnePlus 15, but it’s a higher refresh rate than the 120Hz you’ll get on most high-end phones, including the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and iPhone 17 Pro Max. That said, this difference will only come into play during certain matches.
We also now know that the OnePlus 15R has a 1.5K AMOLED display with 450 pixels per inch and a peak brightness of 1,800 nits. That’s the same pixel density and brightness you’ll find on the OnePlus 15, so while the screen size hasn’t been confirmed, it could well match the OnePlus 15 at 6.78 inches.
Powerful, but not quite on par with the OnePlus 15
Other recently announced details include the OnePlus 15R’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, which is slightly lower than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 used by the OnePlus 15, but should still provide plenty of power.
This is paired with a G2 Wi-Fi chip, which OnePlus says will enable strong Wi-Fi connectivity wherever you are, and a touch response chip, which helps the OnePlus 15R detect touch inputs faster than competing devices.
Finally, there are the cameras, and not much has been revealed about them, but OnePlus has said that the OnePlus 15R uses the Detailmax engine to deliver the same computational photography and advanced algorithms that you’ll get with the OnePlus 15. Like that phone, the OnePlus 15R also has Ultra Clear mode, Clear Burst, and the Clear Night engine.
So it seems that software-wise its cameras might be similar, but it remains to be seen how the camera hardware will compare.
We’ll find out on December 17, when the OnePlus 15R is revealed alongside the OnePlus Watch Lite and OnePlus Pad Go 2 – the latter of which we also now know has a 12.1-inch 8K display with 284 pixels per inch and a peak brightness of 900 nits.
