Only Murders in the Building season 5 release date prediction
Only murders in the building season 5 is officially on the way. During an exclusive interview with TheWrap in September 2024, showrunner John Hoffman revealed, “We’ve been keeping a secret for about a week and a half now. It’s very exciting. We’ve been in the writers’ room for season 5 for two weeks now. So it’s pretty quick and we’re already there. We also know that it will be a ten-episode series, like the rest.
The renewal came just a week after the season 4 premiere and the main trio took to Instagram to reveal more. Jokingly, Steve said, “So when would that happen?” That would be 2025.” To which Selena responds, “Well, we don’t know. We don’t have the date. We have to shoot it.
2025, however, seems very likely. Given the Hulu show’s previous release schedule, we’ve had a summer release date every year since 2021. So, to solve our own mystery, we’re predicting season 5 will follow suit with a summer 2025 release date.
Only Murders in the Building Season 5 Trailer: Is There One?

Only Murders in the Building season 5 story rumors
Major spoilers follow for Only murders in the building season 4.
Even if we do not know the Only murders in the building Season 5 Story Synopsis For now, there’s a lot to unpack from Season 4 that should give us some idea. As the trio managed to solve another murder – this time that of Charles’ double, Sazz Pataki – they once again felt like they would finally be free to relax. But it wouldn’t be a show without another murder.
While the trio appreciated the fact that Oliver’s wedding day to Loretta (Meryl Streep) was not ruined, they are quickly brought back to reality when they reunite with Lester, The Arconia’s doorman and recurring star beloved of the series, died in the fountain. As has been the case for previous seasons, this suspenseful ending prepares the story of the next investigation – and of season 5.
But this is not the only investigation mentioned at the end of season 4. A mysterious woman, who introduces herself as Sofia (Téa Leoni), asks Charles and Mabel to find her husband, Nicky ‘The Neck’ Caccimelio. Now, we heard that name in a report in episode nine that Nicky, the Brooklyn dry cleaner king with ties to the Caputo crime family, was missing. A report to which Mabel reacts. Sofia says she will pay them well to help her, to which they explain that they are only investigating murders committed in the building. His response, his disappearance, has everything to do with the building. Although they rebuff her, she leaves her card and the hint that her story will be intertwined in season 5.
A clue that has since been confirmed by co-creator John Hoffman to Deadline: “I think she’s the big tease at the end of the finale and an intriguing little lead.” Adding: “But beyond that, it’s a potentially open world that hasn’t been talked about too much in New York yet, so it has a lot of intrigue.”
But there’s still more to discuss – murders aside. The finale saw Oliver and Loretta get married, although Loretta’s TV show had moved to New Zealand, and so had she. Leaving Oliver at the Arconia with his friends, they agree that they will make their unconventional relationship work, even from a distance. Given this, we suspect this won’t be the last time we see the newlywed, Loretta Durkin-Putnam.
Then there’s the shocking return of Jan Bellows (Amy Ryan), who despite being imprisoned in Season 1, saves the trio by shooting and killing Marshall P. Pope, aka Rex Bailey, aka Sazz’s assassin. Although she appeared earlier in the season, Charles was also hallucinating Sazz, so it was unclear if he had also been imagining Jan. Fortunately, she was not a pigment of his imagination and was therefore killed to avenge Sazz, his friend after a visit to prison in season 2, and save Charles (as well as Mabel and Oliver). But as police led him away in handcuffs, Jan said: “This is not goodbye, Charles. It is never with us. We are at the end of the game. At that, we would predict that we didn’t say goodbye to Jan after all.
Only murders in the building season 4 also ended with the filming of the film. So, a return of Eva Longoria, Zach Galifinakis and Eugene Levy could well be on the cards for season 5. Additionally, with another murder in the building, we would expect the return of Arconia’s usual loyal residents (who don’t have not yet been killed). murdered) are coming back to help them in any way they can, especially now that it’s a man who helped them all before.
Although we also met some of the unusual residents of the West Tower during Season 4, it’s unclear if they will return to help with Lester’s death or if they will return to their lesser-known side of the house. ‘Arconia.
And as for Paul Rudd’s recurring role – first as actor Ben Glenroy in seasons 2 and 3, then as Ben’s understudy Glen Stubbins in season 4, the co-creator said John Hoffman. TV line: “The fact that he loves the series as much as he does and that he continues with us moves me to the point of making terrible choices. Dramatically I can’t stand Nothing off the table for him or for Jane Lynch. Or anyone else, frankly.
The trio does what they do best, returning guest stars, new guest stars, a closer look at the history of New York and Arconia, and hopefully some resolution for poor Lester then seems to be the attractive construction for Only murders in the building season 5.
Only Murders in the Building: future seasons?
Returning in Season 3, showrunner John Hoffman told Screen Rant that he’s very excited to return for many more seasons: “It’s one of those shows where everyone involved is so happy to do it — and I know I speak for the trio and everyone else. .” Continuing: “I hope this will give it a good, long life. » As three seasons have now turned into five, we can only hope for more.
Hoffman certainly has ambitions to do more, if Hulu wants it. In an interview with Variety, he said: “Once you get over the number of murders that can happen in a building, you really step back and finally look at the true original concept, which was three single people in New York. brought together by a common interest in true crime. Hopefully we’ve attached our stories and thought about things that we all recognize about life and death – and that we’re so close to it, that we examine and investigate and follow that, and then reflect on it. It all still seems very fertile, so I’ll go as long as they’ll have us.
There is, however, no official news after season 5. With a quick renewal in the middle of season 4, if we want to know more, we imagine it will be closer to the release of season 5 in – we let’s plan like Steve Martin himself – 2025.
