LAHORE:
Former senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar said Saturday that Pakistan’s political instability stems from a refusal to respect election results.
Speaking at ThinkFest, he said the first and last solution to the problem was free and fair polls. “The practice of rejecting election results must end.”
He said most elections in recent years had been fought on the basis of a “victim card”, adding that at different times, Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan had been propelled to victory through narratives of political victimization.
“The cost of internal political struggles has been paid by the citizens.”
