The army spokesman for the army, lieutenant-general Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, said that only the state was authorized to announce jihad against an attacker and not an individual or a group.
Lieutenant-General Chaudhry, who was on an official visit to Karachi, expressed these opinions on Sunday during his meetings with people from different backgrounds.
According to the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistani citizens belonging to different religions enjoy equality of rights under the Constitution. He said that unity could only be assured by peace and equality.
“The divisions based on the race or the language are condemnable. All the citizens of Pakistan are equal. No one can overcome us, if we are united,” he added.
The military spokesperson spoke in reference to the recent conflict between Pakistan and India.
The two neighboring countries last month came to a brief but dangerous confrontation, weeks after a militant attack in the Indian Pahalgam region occupied the cashmere.
During the four days of active conflict initiated by India, the two countries launched missile strikes on the other’s territory while performing drones and cyber attacks. The conflict abruptly ended after US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire, apparently at New Delhi’s request.
The CEO ISPR said that India supports terrorist groups in Pakistan and that the Pakistani army responds to this threat using a modern war strategy.
Pakistan accuses India of fomenting terrorism on its soil, in particular in Balutchistan, which has faced a discreet insurrection for two decades.
During his visit, the head of the ISPR received a warm welcome in the country’s economic center.
