- Google Cloud will provide OpenAi infrastructure in a number of countries
- Google also has a cloud agreement with the anthropic Rival Openai
- Then there are the own internal efforts of Google AI
Openai has now added Google Cloud Platform as a chatgpt cloud supplier and its APIs in a number of countries, according to CNBC Reports.
This occurs while the AI giant diversifies its infrastructure to meet growing demand – the company also uses Microsoft, as well as Oracle and Coreweave.
Once the company’s exclusive cloud supplier, Microsoft has lost exclusivity as the relationship between the two companies has evolved. Today, Redmond still has the first right of refusal, but it is no longer the only seller.
OPENAI adds Google to its list of cloud suppliers
The use by Openai by Google Cloud Platform is a significant victory for the company, whose cloud activity is much smaller than AWS and Microsoft Azure, even if it is the third cloud supplier in the world. Its infrastructure will be used in the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, the Netherlands and Norway.
On the other side of the agreement, Openai is not the only client of Google AI. The technology giant already has a partnership with Anthropic – a rival IA company founded by former Openai leaders.
The CEO of Openai, Sam Altman, previously cited a shortage of GPU as motivation not only to increase, but widen the range of cloud services.
According to PK Press ClubThe agreement with Google could have been on the cards for several months, but it is only when the exclusive partnerships with Microsoft have ended that discussions could progress.
For Openai, the diversification of suppliers reduces the locking of unique sellers, which ultimately gives the company more leverage to negotiate prices and access the latest fleas.
However, the agreement raises questions about how Google and its competitors will allocate resources, each offering their own alternative to Chatgpt. For the future, Openai is on the right track to soon finalize the accelerator conceptions, which could further reduce its dependence on third parties.
