- A case for the Pixel 11 Pro XL has already appeared online
- We could have a bigger but thinner camera bar
- These handsets could well be launched around August
The big camera bar on the back of Google’s flagship Pixel phones certainly sets them apart, but it looks like there may be a design change in the works with the Pixel 11 series due later this year.
Case maker ThinBorne (via Android Authority) has already released a listing for a Pixel 11 Pro XL case, which gives us an idea of what could happen. The design of the case suggests that the phone’s camera bar can cover a slightly larger area and protrude a little less.
Take a look at our review of the Pixel 10 Pro XL and you’ll see that the rear camera island protrudes a bit from the phone. This is partly to enable features like 5x optical zoom, but the extra thickness isn’t to everyone’s taste.
In 2026, it looks like Google has found a way to reduce that protrusion without affecting the camera specs too much – although, of course, we don’t yet know what cameras the Pixel 11 handsets will feature.
To be confirmed
Keep in mind that this updated design is far from confirmed, although case makers are often informed of the dimensions of upcoming devices, so that cases can be ready to use on launch day.
This is almost the first Pixel 11 leak to appear, although there was talk a few months ago about changes that could come with the Tensor G6 chipset – the processor expected to be installed in all of these phones.
If Google follows the same approach as last year, we’ll get a Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. The current Pixel 10 flagships were revealed in August, so their successors should also appear on that date.
We also just launched the mid-range Google Pixel 10a, which, like the Pixel 9a before it, eschews the classic Pixel camera bump for a flat rear body. We’ll have to wait and see which direction the Pixel design team goes next.
