- Business leaders want to improve and not replace existing systems
- Martin stresses that his software development does not make AI that makes magic
- No clear consensus on the impact of AI between industry leaders
During the recent outsystems event, there was a lot of media threshing on the quantity of agentic AI that will transform the industries.
The company announced the general availability of Agent Workbench during the event, however, there was no clear consensus between industry leaders on the depth of the impact of the resonant.
In an interview with Techradar Pro, the CEO of Woodson Martin underlined caution on hyperbole, noting “I have not encountered a single CIO who says, my goal is to replace all my existing systems with something new built by an AI. No one says.”
AI uncertainty
Martin has taken a more soaked tone by focusing on the use of technology to help companies go to the future faster rather than completely replacing systems.
It is not only employees who face uncertainty in the AI era, but the question of whether software development companies still have room in a world where entire applications can be created with a single prompt is also on the table.
Martin added: “Do I believe that we are a little exuberant irrationally in the industry today on the potential of AI to change everything and to throw everything that we have ever done to replace all this with something new? This exuberance is real.”
“Is it going to be a complete and total revolution and everything?”. “”
People do not appreciate that work developers make AI beautiful
Rick Hoebee, IT director of Travel Essence, predicted during a panel that “90% of office work will be replaced by AI agents in the next three years”, while other event managers have stressed the importance of human -centered operations alongside AI in commercial systems.
Instead, Martin explained what business leaders really want – which consists in using this new technology to iterate above existing systems and assets to stimulate better productivity.
“And so I think that the revolution is a little occurring at the moment, but I think that the real commercial impact will be motivated in diapers. And I think that this layer of AI and agentics above the assets that already exist in the company is the history of real value here ”.
Martin also explained that AI is just the tip of the iceberg, describing how we see AI doing incredible things but do not appreciate what is happening below.
Including the complete management of the life cycle of all applications within a company with APIs and data storage, noting: “It’s like, Woo, look at AI doing all magic here. But under the covers, there is a lot of hard work. ”
Although the message at Outsystems has a slight duality with the agent I have changed everything and nothing at the same time, there was a clear message and it is that if a company will create an agent, Outsystems wants to be the company that helps do it with the workbench agent platform.
The Outsystems One event has been full of successful case studies on AI agents improving work flows, unlocking data and maximizing the efficiency that has resulted in better experiences for end users.
So, whether the AI revolution is occurring or not, I am happy to buy it.
