32 pickets established across the city, Elite Force commandos on patrol while additional police personnel remain on standby
Over 1,300 police and security personnel have been deployed in Rawalpindi to maintain law and order ahead of a possible Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf protest and Jamaat-e-Islami rally at Liaquat Bagh, officials said.
Officials said the deployment includes two superintendents of police, seven assistant superintendents of police, 29 inspectors and station officers, 92 senior subordinates and 340 constables.
Additionally, seven Elite Force commando sections, 22 emergency and security rapid operations personnel and 400 members of the anti-riot management wing were deployed.

Police have also established 32 pickets, each supervised by a senior subordinate, while elite force commandos carry out patrols. Personnel were equipped with riot gear, including rubber bullets and tear gas launchers.
Pickets have been set up at key locations including Liaquat Bagh, Fawara Chowk, Mandi Mor, Carriage Factory, Committee Chowk, Chandni Chowk, on both sides of Faizabad, Sadiqabad, Saddar Metro Station, 22 Number Chungi, Chohar Chowk and MH Chowk.
Special pickets have also been established on roads and access points leading to Adiala Prison, as well as Chak Beli Mor, Thallian Interchange, Chakri Interchange and Jorian.
Officials said staff were instructed to remain vigilant, and additional officers were on standby within the security division and at police stations to respond to any emergencies.

The deployment comes amid heightened political tensions following the sentencing of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi to 17 years’ imprisonment in the Toshakhana-II case.
PTI leaders expressed support for the party founder and criticized the verdict. The party’s general secretary, Salman Akram Raja, said on Saturday that Khan had urged his supporters to prepare for a street movement.
