RAWALPINDI:

The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has successfully conducted the flight test of the indigenously developed Taimoor weapon system, marking another milestone in the advancement of national aerospace and defense capabilities.

“The Taimoor air-launched cruise missile is capable of engaging enemy land and sea targets with high precision at a distance of 600 kilometers, carrying a conventional warhead,” said a press release issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday.

Equipped with a state-of-the-art navigation and guidance system, Taimoor is designed to fly at very low altitudes, allowing it to effectively evade hostile air and missile defense systems, according to the press release.

“Its precision strike capability significantly enhances the conventional deterrence and operational flexibility of the Pakistan Air Force, thereby strengthening the country’s overall defense posture,” the statement added.

This successful flight test highlights the technical maturity, innovation and self-reliance achieved by the Pakistani defense industry. The launch was attended by senior officers of the Pakistan Armed Forces, as well as eminent scientists and engineers, who played a pivotal role in the development of this advanced weapons system.

Chief of Air Staff Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu congratulated the scientists, engineers and entire team of PAF for this remarkable achievement. He lauded their professional excellence, dedication and unwavering commitment towards strengthening Pakistan’s defense capabilities.

The Air Chief reiterated that such achievements demonstrate the country’s determination to achieve technological self-sufficiency and maintain credible conventional deterrence in an evolving regional security environment.

The successful test of the Taimoor weapon system reflects the Pakistan Air Force’s continued pursuit of operational readiness, technological superiority and national security objectives.

President Asif Zardari paid tribute to the PAF, saying local production of modern weapons reflected the country’s capabilities, resolve and institutional strength, and asserting that the test had strengthened both Pakistan’s defense and its security policy responsible for regional stability.

Terming the achievement as a major step towards self-reliance, the President lauded the hard work and dedication of scientists, engineers and military personnel, and said the promotion of modern technology in the defense sector underlined Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding sovereignty and security.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also congratulated the nation and the PAF, paying tribute to the military leadership, including Air Chief Sidhu, as well as the teams of scientists and engineers associated with the missile program.

He said the Taimoor weapon system would further strengthen the country’s defense, adding that the successful test demonstrated the technological maturity, innovation and self-reliance of Pakistan’s defense industry, while reflecting the operational readiness of the Air Force and its continued focus on achieving national objectives.
