ISLAMABAD:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday stressed that Pakistan is keen to foster cooperation with Iran in areas of mutual interest, including economic development and bilateral trade.
He spoke with the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Dr. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who visited him with a delegation at the Prime Minister’s House.
The prime minister said both countries condemn state terrorism and always support each other following unilateral aggression against their sovereign states.
He added that both countries have unfortunately been victims of terrorism and therefore strongly share the determination for world peace, prosperity and positive cooperation in the region. “Pakistan and Iran are committed to working in cohesion and cooperation for the unity of the Ummah.”
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday also welcomed Google’s decision to establish offices and invest in Pakistan, terming the establishment of Google’s product assembly line in Haripur a positive development.
International IT companies like Google express confidence in the government’s policies to facilitate business and investment in Pakistan, the Prime Minister said in a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.
Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude to overseas Pakistanis as foreign remittances crossed $3.4 billion, an increase of 11.9 percent in October.
The Prime Minister, in a statement, said the steady increase in remittances reflected the confidence expatriates had in the government’s policies.
“Overseas Pakistanis are our invaluable assets, they serve the nation and country by sending their hard-earned money,” he remarked.
