PAK companies added to the black list of American export

WASHINGTON:

The United States has added 80 companies and institutes in Pakistan, China and four other countries to its export control list to prevent American technologies and goods from being “poorly used” for missiles and other military activities, the trade department said on Tuesday.

According to a New York Times report, the Trump administration has added 54 companies and organizations from China to the list of entities in the trade department, as well as more than two dozen Iran, Pakistan, South Africa, UNA Arab Emirate (Water) and Taiwan.

“The additional entities had contributed to Pakistani nuclear activities and its missile program, the quantum technological capacities of China and the development of hypersonic weapons from China, and tried to circumvent American controls on Iran, among other actions, said the administration.

Chinese blacklist companies included six Group Inspur subsidiaries – a cloud computing service provider and Big Data – for contributing to the development of superordinators for Chinese soldiers, said. Five of the subsidiaries are based in China and one in Taiwan.

The Inspur group itself was placed on the list in 2023. The lists are intended to restrict China’s ability to develop high-performance IT capacities, quantum technologies and advanced AI, and hinders the development of its hypersonic weapons by China, said the ministry.

The black commercial list also included the Beijing artificial intelligence academy. “We will not authorize opponents to exploit American technology to strengthen their own soldiers and threaten American life,” said trade secretary Howard Lutnick.

“The objective is to prevent American technologies and goods from being used in unaccompanies for activities such as high performance IT, hypersonic missiles and military aircraft and drones (DRS) that threaten our national security,” said the subsecretary to trade Jeffrey Kessler.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry said Beijing would take the necessary measures to protect the interests of Chinese companies. This decision is “not conducive to the creation of an atmosphere for both parties in order to solve problems through dialogue and cooperation,” the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said in a statement.

The Chinese Embassy in Washington said that it firmly opposed “these acts that the United States has been carried out by the United States and demand that it immediately cease to use army problems as a pretext to politicize, instrument and arm the commercial and technological problems”.

By imposing sanctions on more companies, the United States has also sought to disrupt the purchase by Iran of drones and related defense items and prevented the development of its program of ballistic missiles and unpackaged nuclear activities.

The United States adds companies to the list of national security entities or foreign policy problems. The companies were unable to sell goods to those listed without asking and obtain licenses, which are likely to be refused.
