Pak ready to emerge as a technological center: PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was about $ 700 million in new foreign investments in the IT sector on Tuesday and called on international stakeholders to continue supporting the Pakistan course because he was ready to lead a global digital economy.

The Prime Minister addressed the digital conference of direct foreign investment (DFDI-2025) here, declaring that Pakistan “does not wait for the future, but shame it”.

The conference, which have attended world technology leaders, investors and innovation champions have marked an important step in the emergence of Pakistan as a key director of the global digital economy.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his first opening speech, shared ideas from his four decades of public service, observing the “sea change in world dynamics motivated by digital transformation”.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to position Pakistan as the next main technological destination in the world. “Our young people, aged 15 to 30, constitute 60% of the population. These are the architects of our digital future,” said the Prime Minister.

He underlined the government’s strategic initiatives, including the launch of federal and provincial IT parks, incubation centers and a large -scale R&D ecosystem.

He announced a new partnership with the World Giant of Huawei Technology, which will lead to 200,000 boys and girls each year thanks to a joint skills development program.

He said that in March of this year, Pakistan had a record of $ 4.1 billion in foreign funds, reporting growing confidence in the country’s digital potential.

“We are not only building a digital economy-we create a digital Pakistan. From the transformation of agriculture via AI to exporting exports with intelligent technology, it’s time for global investors to join us,” he said.

Prime Minister Shehbaz also invited the world to invest, guide and grow with Pakistan. Together, we will make Pakistan a leading light in the digital age, “he added.

In addition, the Prime Minister ordered the competent authorities on Tuesday to immediately initiate work on the feasibility of a rail link between Pakistan and Kazakhstan, aimed at improving regional connectivity and trade.

He published these guidelines at a meeting with the Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan, Marat Karabayev, at the Prime Minister’s house.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed his best wishes to the president of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and recalled his productive interaction with him at the World Water Summit held in Saudi Arabia.

He expressed a strong anticipation for the next visit of President Tokayev to Pakistan, describing it as an important step towards the strengthening of bilateral links.

The Prime Minister said that the proposed rail link would be a “change of game” for the whole region, because it would directly connect the Central Asian states to the Gwadar port of Pakistan, improving commercial roads and economic opportunities.
