Islamabad:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Friday said Pakistan recognized neither the Israeli state nor maintained diplomatic ties with him.
The Prime Minister had a telephone conversation with Jamaat-E-Islami (JI) Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, during which the two leaders discussed the situation in the Middle East, with a particular accent on the urgent need of a ceasefire in Palestine, said a press release from the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister also underlined the active role of the government in the insurance of the safe performance of Pakistani nationals held by Israel after their participation in Flatilla Global Sumud, including former Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan.
The Prime Minister informed that Islamabad remained close in touch with friendly nations and international organizations to guarantee the liberation and the early repatriation of its citizens.
The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of stopping the Palestinian ongoing blood effusions, reaffirming that Pakistan’s position on the Palestinian cause has always been “clear and unequivocal”.
He stressed that Pakistan has always raised the voice of the Palestinian people oppressed at each global forum and will continue to do so.
Reiterating the long-standing position of Pakistan, Sharif declared that the country firmly supports the creation of an independent Palestinian State on the fronts before 1967 with al-Quds al-Sharif as capital.
He expressed the hope that the collective efforts of eight Islamic countries working for a cease-fire would soon bear fruit, paving the way for peace and the realization of the dream of a Palestinian state for a long time.
Shehbaz expressed his confidence that held the Pakistani people would soon be brought home safely.
During the conversation, the two leaders also examined the situation in Jammu-et-Cachemire of illegal occupation (Iiojk).
The Prime Minister reiterated that the federal government has committed to playing its full role in promoting peace and supporting the struggle of the cashmere people for their legitimate rights.
