Pak to answer by “full strength” if you are attacked

Pakistan will respond with the “complete spectrum of power” if India attacks or disrupts vital water flows, said the country’s ambassador to Russia, Muhammad Khalid Jamali.

Addressing RT, Russian state television on Saturday, the ambassador said that Pakistani intelligence has evidence that India provides for military assault against Pakistan.

“There are other documents disclosed by which it was decided to strike certain areas of Pakistan,” said Jamali. “So that makes us feel that it will happen and it’s imminent.”

The ambassador warned that Pakistan is ready to respond to any assault: “We in Pakistan use the full spectrum of power, both conventional and nuclear.”

He also reiterated Islamabad’s position concerning the Water Treaty in Indus (IWT), a key agreement between India and Pakistan, which New Delhi suspended as a result of the attack.

“Any attempt to usurp the water of the lower resident, or to stop it, or to divert it would be an act of war against Pakistan and would be reacted with full force of power, including the full spectrum of power,” said the envoy.

Jamali, however, urged de -escalation, noting the potential danger since the two countries have nuclear weapons. “As the two countries are nuclear powers, there is all the more need to defuse tensions.”

India has not lost time to accuse Pakistan of a militant attack that occurred in the afternoon of April 22 in the Baisaran valley, a popular tourist destination about 6 km from the city of Pahalgam. The resistance front, a little -known militant group, would have claimed responsibility.

New Delhi previously reduced staff from the Pakistani High Commissioner, expelling Pakistani diplomats and closing its land border – and Islamabad responded with reciprocal measures.

The Indian government has also suspended visa services for Pakistani nationals. On Saturday, New Delhi announced a set of other measures aimed at downgrading the already experienced commercial links with Pakistan.

Pakistan previously called for “neutral and credible surveys” on the attack on cashmere.

“I think that here the role of the international community comes into play. And in this regard, we expect powers like China and Russia to participate in these investigations,” added the ambassador.
