Islamabad:

Pakistan and the United States agreed on Friday to render the exchange of information more effective in the fields of the fight against terrorism and counter-nostolres in another sign of deepening of security cooperation between the two parties.

Development occurred during a meeting between the Minister of the Interior Mohin Naqvi and the American coordinator of counter-terrorism Gregory Logerfo at the Ministry of the Interior.

The Minister of State inside Tallal Chaudhry, the acting American ambassador Natalie Baker and the Federal Interior Secretary were also present on this occasion.

An official document published here by the Ministry of the Interior said at the meeting, the two parties agreed to further improve Pakistani relations, in particular in the fields of the fight against terrorism, border security and anti-narcotics.

They also agreed to make the exchange of information more effective in the fields of the fight against terrorism and counter-nostolics.

Naqvi said that since the administration of President Donald Trump has come to power, Pakistani relations have improved considerably.

He congratulated the sincere efforts of President Trump for world peace and noted that transparency, mutual trust and cooperation are the characteristics of the bilateral relationship. He stressed that this is an excellent opportunity to further strengthen bilateral relations in all areas.

The Minister of the Interior added that dialogue against terrorism will help create a joint strategy. He called on the American decision to designate the BLA forbidden and foreign terrorist organizations of the Majeed brigade, a laudable stage, expressing the hope that Pakistan-American cooperation will give positive results in the elimination of terrorism.

Gregory Logerfo has recognized the PK Press Club-strategic importance of Pakistan. He also expressed condolences on the losses of current life in terrorist attacks.

The meeting came in the context of the recent decision of the United States to designate the BLA and major brigade as a foreign terrorist organization (FTO). This decision was a major diplomatic victory for Pakistan.

Earlier this week, Pakistan and the United States has committed to deepen cooperation against terrorism, with a renewed accent on the fight against terrorist groups, notably BLA, Isis-Khorasan and TTP.

But what was significant in the joint declaration published after the last cycle of dialogue to combat terrorism organized in Islamabad was that it was for the first time that the United States agreed to work with Pakistan to fight against groups such as the BLA prohibited.

The two countries regularly hold a dialogue against terrorism, but never before the joint declaration mentioning terrorist groups such as BLA.
