ISLAMABAD:
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi discussed measures to curb illegal immigration, combat human trafficking and strengthen bilateral cooperation with European Union Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner in Brussels.
During the meeting, Commissioner Brunner spoke highly of Pakistan’s efforts, noting a 47% reduction in attempts to reach Europe via illegal routes over the past year. He called Pakistan’s actions “exemplary” and praised the government for its tough crackdown on people smugglers.
Both sides agreed to further strengthen a common and coordinated strategy.
