Brussels: the European Union (EU) and Pakistan held the 10th political dialogue in Brussels on Thursday, covering key issues concerning the bilateral cooperation of the EU-PAKISTAN, as well as regional and international issues, including multilateral cooperation. However, the two parties agreed to deepen the dialogue and discussions on security related issues.
Pakistan and the EU have reaffirmed their commitment to the implementation of the strategic commitment plan (MS) signed in 2019. The two parties aim to deepen cooperation in all areas covered by the MS.
The two parties reiterated their determination to continue a close commitment in the framework of the GSP +framework, a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
They recognized significant cooperation on various aspects of migration, aimed at maintaining the third complete dialogue of migration and mobility later in 2025.
In addition to bilateral cooperation, both parties have also exchanged views of regional and global problems.
The EU and Pakistan have recognized the importance of multiple facets cooperation on security issues, including the fight against terrorism and the counter-note.
They condemned all forms of terrorism.
The two parties have agreed with the need for efforts based on dialogue and diplomacy in order to resolve the disputed issues and stressed the importance of maintaining international law and the sacredness of international agreements and treaties.
The parties exchanged opinions on the situation in Ukraine as well as in Jammu-et-Cachemire. The two parties underlined the need to find peaceful solutions to conflicts, in full regard to the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
They agreed to the urgent need to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
The two parties called for the resumption of a cease-fire and expressed their support for initiatives that contribute to just, durable and complete peace in Palestine in accordance with the two-state solution.
The two parties reaffirmed their aspiration to summon the 7th strategic dialogue in 2025, stressing its importance in strengthening Pakistani-EU cooperation.
They agreed to hold the next meeting of the political dialogue in 2026 in Islamabad.
The EU delegation was led by Olof Skoog, deputy secretary general of the European external action service, and the Pakistani delegation by Amna Baloch, Secretary of Foreign Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.
