Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates signed a memorandum of comprehension (Mou) on the mutual exemption from entry requirements on the visa among other agreements during the 12th session of the joint ministerial commission of Pakistan-Uae held in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.
The session was co-chaired by the Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Senator Ishaq Dar, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates and international cooperation, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The two countries have signed different agreements aimed at improving cooperation in fields such as investment, artificial intelligence and the digital economy, reported Radio Pakistan.

The meeting was held in a spirit of mutual understanding and fraternity, the two parties exchanging opinions on regional and international developments. They reaffirmed their commitment to peace and stability in the region.

Among the results of the session, there was the signing of a protocol which establishes procedural executives for follow -up actions, sectoral working groups and reciprocal visits.

This meeting, scheduled for October 2024, was the first session of the JMC in 13 years. The last session took place in Islamabad from November 6 to 7, 2013. Dar had reached the water on Monday to represent Pakistan.
The two delegations expressed their satisfaction with the progress made and agreed to convene the 13th session of the JMC in Pakistan to mutually agreed dates.
Before the official session, a preparatory working group of the JMC met under the direction of a special assistant by the Prime Minister (SAPM) Tariq Bajwa and the Minister of State Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh.
Officials have examined the entire scope of bilateral relations and have agreed practical measures to extend cooperation in trade, bank, investment, energy, aviation, railways, food security, health care, climate change, higher education, defense, labor and information technologies.

The two countries have underlined the need to strengthen institutional mechanisms and promote inter -ministerial coordination to monitor joint initiatives.

Earlier this month, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made an official visit to the water, where he met the president of water Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The two leaders discussed a wide range of bilateral, regional and global issues and reaffirmed their commitment to advance collaboration.
The Prime Minister also expressed his gratitude to the United Arab Emirates for his constructive diplomatic role in the relaxation of tensions between Pakistan and India, and recognized the wider efforts of the country to promote peace and stability in the region.
