Pakistan and Azerbaijan signed several agreements on Monday to strengthen cooperation in trade, energy, tourism, education and other key sectors during the official visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Bakou.
Prime Minister Shehbaz and President Ilham Aliyev witness the signature ceremony, which followed their bilateral meeting and their talks at the delegation focused on the links on several areas.
One of the main agreements includes a memorandum of understanding between the State Oil Company (SOCAR) of Azerbaijan and the Organization of Border Works (FWO) and Pakistan State Oil (PSO) for collaboration on the project Machike-Thallian-Tarujabba White Oil Pipeline.
In addition, Socar has signed separate mussels with Pakistan Refinery Limited (PRL) and PSO to stimulate energy cooperation, including the sale and purchase of LNG cargoes and petroleum products.
Another agreement has been signed to modify the existing framework for LNG trade between the two nations, which allows Pakistan LNG limited to strengthen its energy supply chain thanks to Azerbaijani resources.
In a decision to promote cultural and economic links, the foreign ministers of the two countries exchanged a memorandum of understanding establishing cooperation between Nakhchivan, an autonomous city in Azerbaijan and Lahore.
The agreement aims to promote collaboration in culture, tourism, urban development, education, economics, science and technology.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz received an honorary care of the presidential palace of Zagulba in Azerbaijan on Monday when he started his official two -day visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.
President Ilham Aliyev welcomed the Pakistani Prime Minister when he arrived at the Palais, where the national anthems of the two countries were played before the official reception of the Azerbaijani armed forces.
The visit marks the second trip of the PM Shehbaz to Azerbaijan since its office taking in March 2024.
