The Government of Pakistan has blocked more than 500 social media accounts related to prohibited militant groups after reporting more than 850 accounts on different platforms in national repression.
The accounts, allegedly linked to proscribed groups such as Tehreek-E-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Baloch Liberation Army (Bla) and Baloch Liberation Front (BLF)-all prohibited by the United Nations, the United States and the United Kingdom-also experienced combined follow-up of more than two million.
Pakistan reported more than 850 social media accounts and around 533 of them were blocked. The National Agency for National Cybercrime (NCCIA) and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) coordinated the action, reporting accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, X (formerly Twitter), Telegram and Whatsapp.

Federal Minister of Computer Science, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, also obtained direct cooperation from telegram officials despite the ban on the application in Pakistan.
The government has also asked for international cooperation to prevent online extremist propaganda.
Facebook and Tiktok acted on more than 90% of requests for deletion, while X and WhatsApp showed compliance at 30%.
Officials have warned that if traditional Pakistani media remain free from extremist content, militant groups still use online platforms for recruitment and incentive.
Islamabad has urged global platforms to definitively block the accounts related to the terrorist, deploy moving systems based on AI and maintaining direct contact with the Pakistani authorities.
