In the United Nations, Pakistan called on the international community to gain greater knowledge of the growing terrorist threat posed by Pakistan of Tehrik-I-Taliban (TTP), the Brigade Majeed and Da’ish, warning that the threat s’ extends beyond Afghanistan and Pakistan, affecting the whole region and beyond.
In his declaration during the information of the United Nations Security Council on “threats to international peace and security caused by terrorist acts”, the permanent representative of Pakistan to the UN, Munnir Akram, urged the world to take decisive measures against the expansion crisis of terrorism.
He also rejected any assertion that the recruitment of Da’ish took place in Pakistan, reaffirming that more than two dozen terrorist groups operate in Afghanistan, the country serving as “hubs” for the recruitment and facilitation of Da’ish , as confirmed by the recent report of the UN team.
Akram pointed out that Pakistan, having managed to dismantle groups like Al-Qaeda inside its borders, continues to face the threats of TTP, Da’ish and the major brigade, which operates from refuges the other side of the border.
He called for more international attention to these groups, stressing that their presence and activities are well documented in United Nations reports and should be treated urgently.
The Pakistan ambassador has also condemned terrorism in all its forms, reiterating the important role of the country in global efforts to combat terrorism.
He thought about the heavy cost that Pakistan brought in his battle against terrorism, with the loss of more than 80,000 innocent lives and substantial damage to his economy.
