Pakistan, Canada explore trade routes

ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan and Canada, while recognizing the significant untapped potential in bilateral relations, on Saturday expressed their willingness to improve the implementation of existing agreements and identify new avenues of cooperation.

The 6th round of bilateral political consultations between the two countries was held here, during which both sides highlighted the importance of strengthening trade and economic cooperation, including greater support for the business community, facilitation of trade delegations and strengthening institutional ties.

“The two sides emphasized cooperation in the areas of trade and investment, agriculture and agrotechnology, mining and minerals, energy, climate change, artificial intelligence and information and communication technologies, skilled manpower development, education and research, tourism and people-to-people exchanges, as key drivers to advance relations,” the press release added.

The two countries also highlighted the central role of investment in achieving sustainable and mutually beneficial growth and agreed to work to encourage the private sector to explore emerging opportunities.

The two sides also exchanged views on developments in the global and regional environment and discussed key multilateral issues of common concern.
